Satyananda Yoga is a holistic style of yoga addressing the whole person not just the body. It is designed to meet the needs of modern humanity, combining modern scientific thought with ancient wisdom – resulting in physical well-being, mental, emotional and spiritual stability and self-discovery.
Through Satyananda Yoga one learns to manage stress, tension and anxiety and find balance amidst the conflicts, turmoil and challenges of life. It encourages the development of awareness and brings yoga into our everyday lifestyle.
Satyananda Yoga has been involved in numerous scientific studies and experiments collaborating with scientists all over the world.
Satyananda Yoga progresses through four stages:
1. Yoga Practice
2. Yoga Sadhana
3. Yogic Lifestyle
4. Yogic Culture
Each stage deepens one’s understanding of oneself, others and the world around us in a variety of ways that enhance every aspect of our lives.
Yoga Outreach
Today Satyananda Yoga has been successfully assimilated into many areas of therapy and education in modern society. It provides tools for individuals to enhance their skills for living and their ability to make a responsible contribution to the development of human society.
Yoga has come down from the caves and mountains into the research laboratories of scientists and doctors and from there it has entered mainstream society and is being used to improve health and well-being in the following areas: athletics; industry and corporate business sectors; schools, colleges and universities; hospitals and health clinics; drug rehabilitation, armed services; space programs; homes for the elderly and prisons.
Satyananda Yoga is rooted in the yogic tradition and the ancient philosophies of Tantra, Vedanta and Samkhya. It incorporates practices to develop the whole personality from all the branches of yoga. It is alive. The wisdom and teachings from the ancient yogic tradition have been rephrased and adjusted by past and present masters in the form of Swami Sivananda, Swami Satyananda, Swami Niranjanananda and Swami Satyasangananda to meet the needs of modern day living for all humanity.
